Hi everyone. I'm Tami from the US. I read almost everything except romance. I enjoy books that make me feel and think. I'm currently listening to The Patron Saint of Liars and reading I Who Have Never Known Men. Cringy title but a great book so far.

I gave 5 starts to The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, old and excellent. The story was so compelling that I raced through it despite its size and heavy material. I've read it twice over the years, and I rarely do repeats. If you haven't had a chance to read it, Sinclair was a muckraker, and this book brough to light some horrible truths about workers in the early 1900s. The President of the US (Teddy Roosevelt) read the book and was physically sickened by it. His response was important and he enacted laws...he just didn't address the issues you might have expected. I think we call that Missing The Point. Both the passionate effort to improve the plight of the working class, and the response to it is endlessly fascinating to me.
