73348 Sharon, I don't remember the first two. I'll have to look for those!

I loved 1984 and Fahrenheit 415 but didn't read them until I was an adult. My husband and I were talking the other day about how we didn't have the "assigned reading" that everyone else seemed to in school. We went through school during a strange time (70's). Both of us remember "meditating' in our English classes! That's about all we remember about it!
73348 When I think about my reading life it started with horses. I didn't like reading until my best friend Julia turned me on to horse books. From there it was mysteries, like The Box Car Children. But books that I remember influencing me towards justice in middle school were:"Black like me," "Hey White Girl," and "Harriet Tubman and the underground railroad."
How about you?

You've got the new technology down Jill! I'm just able to add character notes on my phone but a whole concept? Probably not!

LOL! Maybe that's why I write on my day of rest. So my characters aren't cranky!

73348 The fourth book in The Finding Home Series, Riley's Ride will be coming out in time for Christmas. I'm excited about that. I'm also working on my first fantasy book and my first "New Adult" book.

73348 I write on Tuesday's. I know it sounds strange because I've been to lots of writing conferences and the authors always say, "Writer's write. You have to get up every morning at five and write for three hours each day!" Well, I'm sorry, I have a life. I love my life and so, I write on Tuesdays. I did this for a year and at the end, I had a book. In three years I've written three books and am just finishing a fourth. It works for me! Do you have a writing or art type practice? How do you renew your soul?
73348 My characters have different ethnicities because I live in a world full of different ethnicities. It would be a boring world if it was all vanilla. I do get help with these characters though. I ask ethnic friends to proof read them to see if I've misrepresented anything. I'd love feedback as to how you think I did on this.

73348 I thought it would be fun to have a place that readers and writers who love young adult and middle grade fiction could connect. Let's talk about the books we love!
P.S. You're welcome to post your favorite books, videos and ask questions of each other. As long as it stays friendly, it's all good.
