I've likened the $0.99 shorts to single songs on iTunes, so I've not looked at them as bargain bin either. That label I save for the books at the dollar store (which shockingly I've found a decent read or two among the crap).

I haven't uploaded any stories yet but have been playing around with the idea of small collections (2 to 4 stories each, depending on length). I'm right there with you that they would be appropriately priced at $2.99.

Like Apple, I think Amazon is a necessary devil.
