Jake’s comments from the Mountains group.

"The Crystal Horizon: Everest-The First Solo Ascent" isn't too shabby. If I remember correctly the first half of the book discusses some history of attempts to summit Everest with some culture. The second half is Messner's account of his summit. I've always had mixed feelings with Messner's writings. However, he does show how he is truly human and even his limits can be pushed in this book.
