I am reading "Some Where In The Darkness" by Walter Dean Myers, on page 96/168. The setting is in the 1990's and so far the book has three different settings. The first is New York, because of his mother dying and his father was in jail he stayed with his mothers friend. The second setting is Cleavland, once his father gets out of jail he comes back to New York looking for his soon then they both go to Cleavland for his dad to handle some things.
The third setting is Chicago, his father has a job there and his old girlfriends live there so he stops by to catch up with her.
The setting has a crazy impact because Crab tells jimmy he escaped from jail so the cops are for him everywhere they go.
Walter Dean Myers, "Somewhere In The Darkness".Im on page 63 out of 168. The story is told in first person point of view, it influences the story more because to me it seems like in first person it makes you think about it as if you were in there shoes. So i learn how it feels to be that character. if the story wasnt told in 1st person i wouldnt know the characters feelings how i know them, because if its your thoughts then you can describe it and get deep into if its in 3rd the narrator cant say the feelings of the character how it would be in 1st because thats not their mind.the narrators opinions influence's the story because it gives you more to expand. yes i do feel like i can trust the narrator. if it was told in mama jeans point of view it would be different because she doesnt know as much as they do because shes not present all the time, so she would be basically saying her thoughts.
The books i have read so far this year are Forged By Fire, and Bud Not Buddy, and Somewhere In The Darkness which i just started.Im on page 7 out of 168. Some things that i have learned from Forged By Fire is Protect your loved ones, getting intoxicated isnt worth it, and dont let people get to you.Somethings i learned from Bud Not Buddy is, sometimes you have to be independent, and you can turn a bad situation into a good one.The Experience im having with SSR is still the same i like it as long as my book is interesting then i will read but soometimes i still might just act like im reading..Yes i do think my reading skills have improved i always have been a good reader verbally but as far as reading something and picturing it in my mind has gotten better. The major one that has a impact on me is - you can turn a bad situation into a good one

The name of my book is called "Bud,Not Buddy" im on page 117 out of 243 pages. This is my second book of SSR.Two connections that in this book i can speak on are TEXT TO WORLD, and TEXT TO TEXT.
a connection that is to the world is how the boy bud is in the foster homes and he is running away from the houses they put him in he is trying to find his father due to his mothers death, that can be compared to someone's else life i know of the family i knew they were took into the foster home because of their moms lack of responsibility and they ran away looking for family and help like the boy Bud in the book.
Another connection is to text in my old book forged by fire the boy gerald was in the foster home at one point because he started a fire while he was home alone at the age of 3 and his mom was out doing drugs..
Im reading Forged By Fire Im Done The Book just finished today, two major conflicts in my book is.Geralds mother abandoning him while he was young and trying to come back into his life.He is use to his aunt queen all the time but when she died all he had was his mother so it was hard for him to adjust to her.Another Major conflict is Jordan- his mothers boyfriend,he beats on him and angel-geralds sister and he touches angel in sexual ways and likes to play games with her when people arent home he tells her dont tell or he will kill her cat so she is scared to talk to someone about it. THE TWO CONFLICTS ARE CHARACTER vs. CHARACTER .
I am reading "Forged By Fire" out of 154 pages I'm on page 61. So far there are 5 main charters in the book. The first two are:
Gerald: the son of drug user, his mom does cocaine and one day she leaves him home alone, then he starts a fire and is left with his Aunt Queen while his mother is sent to jail.
Aunt Queen: Gerald's aunt, who takes him in under her wing when his mother is sent to jail for the use of drugs and leaving her child alone... She takes are of him for years then on his 11th birthday his mom gets out of jail and comes to visit and his Aunt Queen dies so he's stuck with his mom.
Angel: Gerald's little sister that is abused by her father and Gerald's becomes are protector against her father
Jordan: Angels father, his mothers boyfriend his enemy. He gets intoxicated and starts to sexually touch his little daughter Angel and sometimes abuse both her and Gerald
Monica: Gerald's mom the cocaine addict. Who leaves him alone, goes to jail, and then comes back in his life and is scared of her boyfriend Jordan so she never confronts him she thinks everything's ok.
