How did everyone like the book? Do you have a favorite story? I found it interesting to learn how our city has grown and changed!

I was disappointed that Jonathan Darby being a rapist was down played so much. He went around assaulting maids and it didn’t seem to bother Aiden too much. But, there were 3 pages about how disgusted he was with Ravencourt’s body. It seems as if sexual assault is a lesser crime than being overweight. I don’t know if this is a criticism of the author, or if he is making a comment on society.

Did anyone else think the description of Ravencourt was a little much? I’ve read a lot of reviews where people said they quit reading after that point because of the “fat-phobia”.

Hoopla has 5 books by Tobin Buhk and 2 of them are about Grand Rapids! "Murder and Mayhem in Grand Rapids" and "Poisoning of the Pecks of Grand Rapids". My dad went and saw the author speak, and bought the book about Detroit for my grandpa. This could be interesting for the group to read! Still "thriller" while being non-fiction. Let me know your guys' thoughts!

First discussion post in our awesome new group! Has anyone started Evelyn yet? I'm about 5 hours in but am lost and can't seem to get into it. I may start over next week on a long drive where I can focus better.
