80672 Guys let me know if there is some new Marvel comics of these chances that is surprise, recommended.

Other than Hulk im most interested in earlier comics like the new Hawkeye series with the cool art, take on the character.

80672 It depends on the series for me. I read most of my series monthly but some stories are better in trades. Superhero like Daredevil,Animal Man, Undestructible Hulk and weird thrilling, horror series like Swamp Thing,The Walking Dead is also monthlies. But American Vampire,BPRD is better read for me in trades. Most Vertigo series is better in Trades. Scalped i enjoyed the trades more than when i switched to monthlies.

Some comic stories just work better in reading 6-7 issues after each other like its chapters in a book. I wait for those comics. I also read many trades of old comics i havent read before.

I know Denise Mina and i have nothing against her writing but against the comic being done as novelization of a film.

Im happy with the Swedish films only so far. Because im no Larsson fan i didnt even see Fincher,Daniel Craig version. Steig Larsson type crime is not to my taste.

80672 I have no interest in franchise product.

Even if i was a fan of the series, the books, films are enough.

These days really its a bit absurd about a famous book must adapted in all other mediums. The license owners dreams, people willing to support everything in a series.

2. Tintin - childhood hero still rocks
2. Guts - Berserk
3. Ippo - Hajime No Ippo
4. Asterix & Obelix
5. Lucky Luke
6. Luca Torelli - Torpedo
7. Takamura - Hajime No Ippo
8. Alita - Battle Angel Alita
9. Light - Deathnote
10. Killer - The Killer

American comics:

1. Daredevil because of Frank Miller/Brubaker/Michael Lark
2. John Constantine -Garth Ennis is reponsible for this
3. Batman - Frank Miller again who made me superhero fans thanks to Year One, Dark Knight Returns
4. Tommy Monagan - Hitman(Garth Ennis series)

80672 Im a selective Judge Dredd comics fan, i have read only trades by Garth Ennis and Esquerra. I know little of the world, the character.

I enjoyed the film alot, it captured Dredd really well and Urban went from the guy in Star Trek to potential for Clint Eastwood like action, adventure roles. He did the action, the tone for Dredd really well. They didnt show much of Dredd world but they got the messed up future correct and the harsh laws.

I know him mostly for his work with Wildcats, when Wildstrom U had golden age in the superhero line with Authority,Warren Ellis,Ed Brubaker,Millar and co.

I must say this is very good topic. I have been big american comics fan for the last 7 years and my top fav characters has changed many times from Spidey nr.1 to Batman and from superhero to John Constantine type awesome genre characters.

80672 Shame you didn't read wildcats by Joe Casey, charest they made it famous the superhero team that made themselves a corporate entity.

Arrow is pretty good superhero by Tv standard. Quality Vertigo like Preacher, Scalped need much bigger budget You find in Cable channels like Amc, HBO. Arrow is made by channel owned by Dc owner. Not surprising why they make it then.

Vertigo made me comics reader I have read many of thiers , my fav underrated vertigo is Sandman Mystery theater. Scalped was great and I hope it isn't the the last great vertigo. Dc and marvel exclusive away the best authors who before would make a series there.
Oct 19, 2012 08:39AM

80672 Image is the place for mature genre comics today like vertigo was in 90s,2000s but it will never have the backlog, the width and the feel of having many quality creators. Vertigo had the brit envsion greats.

The Boys is good but Ennis is my fav comics writer and his Hellblazer, Preacher, hitman, Punisher, War stories are his top form imo.
