The book is set in Tehran, Iran and is about war, has soldiers in it and is by Iranian author, who grew up in USA.

Hello Kitty is my secret weapon against the enemy! Daughter refuses to use the ordinary bandaids, so we have a nice collection of Tinkerbells, Moomins and Hello Kitties. I keep buying them whenever I see a package. I am well prepared for the battle. I shall never run out of silly bandaids.
