8565 Howdy!
I’m in San Antonio, Texas, looking for bluebonnets and visiting brother, Travis. The eclipse was a bit of a disappointment.
Any Texans here? I’ll wave at you, just tell me which direction to face! (Smile)

I was going to ask if there was a way to do this, rather than look through 25 pages to find a particular book.

It's fine - we're not scorekeeping or any such thing. It's only bragging rights, if anything :)"

Thank you , Tien. I’m sorry if I put pressure on you to make the thread. I didn’t mean to. I honestly didn’t know if it was required or not. Now I see how laid back this group is and I really appreciate that

But its okay if we don’t post there, right? Its okay I’m just posting in the genre thread with a ✅ when I finish? No one is keeping score or anything?

8565 Currently listening to The Mabinogion. But I found a website with a cheat sheet to keep all the Welsh names straight.
A next pick will be another mythology from the Scandinavian Viking culture. Either Volsunga Saga or The Prose Edda: Norse Mythology
The Goose Girl and Cinder I’ll try to fit in. My daughter has wanted me to read them ever since middle school and now will be her last year at University!
8565 For shelf bender I read 6 books; 3 from lists and 3 next pick

Silas Marner by George Eliot - so far I have not read one of her books I did not enjoy and this one can go to top of list
Washington Square by Henry James i felt so sorry for main character, an innocent pawn of the self centered people around her, non of which despite their declarations to the contrary cared a fig for her best interests.
A Dangerous Place by Jacqueline Winspear- one of a few mystery series I follow but am far behind in staying current with latest. It is a conundrum that you fall in love with a character and the series, and you wait for the next one eagerly and would be very disappointed if the author announced the end but on the other hand as it goes on and on, the character has to have life changes and supporting characters come and go and the protagonist herself changes because life isn’t static. Then its not as exciting and a novelty anymore. I find it really difficult to keep up with some series that are in their 30th volume and beyond, but I don’t want them to die either!
A Dangerous Talent by Charlotte Elkins - this is the first of a series about the art world particularly Georgia O’Keefe forgeries.
The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray This book I highly recommend! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️. Oddly, I had started reading it before, not really aware of the premise and that is based on a true woman’s life. The first chapter seemed to drag for the first few pages and I switched to a more lively book. Now I can’t even remember which book that was but this one will stick with me a long time. Very well done collaboration
The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum - an audible freebie I would not have read otherwise. Psychotic people hurting the most vulnerable in society isn’t fun to read anyway especially if there is nothing redemptive about it Furthermore the narrator kept dropping spoilers so all suspense was lost.

I posted this for the Feb genre but read them in March. Hope I wasn’t breaking a thread rule.

8565 Oh gee, I’m confused…..again. There is a completion thread for everyone now? I have completed the Historical genre. Are we supposed to post somewhere when a genre is completed?

Thank you so much for your answers. So this weekend you will be making a thread for completed books in a genre or one for me?
Mar 18, 2024 10:06AM

8565 A few more questions .
1.For book covers, do you have to use a particular edition like MPE or the most recent? I have one that is audiobook and CD cover of book appears unique to audio versions only. May I still use it?

2. Once a plan is posted, and the books chosen are picked, is it alright to change them?

3. I saw someone asked before about posting plans and finished books and answer seemed to be - we trust you on your own. But I noticed there is a list of people participating with a link where finished books are posted. Were we supposed to use such a link for official use? I had just posted a plan at the end of each genre’s thread.

4. After signifying we completed a book, is there anything else to be done? Is a review required?

5. I am going minimum for this challenge, with three categories per genre, however for non-fiction my TBR pile seems especially high and having trouble picking only 3 categories. Is it possible to complete 5 tasks for a particular genre when all other genres only 3 books and their next books read?

6. I thought I read this somewhere else but just want to be sure, there is no lexile or certain reading level required for books? Books such as Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder accepted for example?
Are plays, poetry and books of essays acceptable?
Is there a minimum page requirement?

Sorry to be a nuisance but I certainly appreciate the time you take with me.

It is in small print just above the list of books"

You are right! Found it. As I looked back over previous questions, I saw I wasn’t the only one looking for it. Its that teeny tiny print, I guess
