Hey y'all - wondering about We The Animals by Justin Torres. Looking for books by Latino authors that would appeal to Latino high school boys and girls. A librarian told me that WTA is too depressing... What do you think?

Our Clubs have a WIDE range of ages, reading levels, and tastes.
We mainly stick with front list (or at least pubbed over the last 5 or so years) with occasional exceptions (like Interpreter of Maladies by J. Lahiri, which won the 1999 Pulitzer -- LOVE it! Or Catcher In The Rye).
