I loved "Of a feather" by Scott Weidensaul. I thought it was a pretty complete history and loved learning about the opera glass ladies and how the ABA got started. Not to mention solid, organized writing from an author with a clear passion for birds.
Welcome Becky! I am an avid birder since I was a kid and just recently took up photography(attempting anyways). My second passion is books. I have worked in the book industry for the last 7 years and am lucky to have access to a lot of books. I am not a good writer and am more of a math/statistics nerd. I am the type of person that will sit down and read a field guide cover to cover. Evolution and field ID are always subjects on my current reading table. I live in Indiana and bird mostly in Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan. Cheers

I just wanted to make a list early in the year of my most wanted books being published this year. I have quite the list so far and I will add some more as they are announced. First off, the 2 books that are buzzing with the word "2013" are:
1. Peterson field guide to Bird Sounds - this is a biggy because it not just bird songs, but calls, screeches, and squawks. Finally! A hopeful complete companion to all the earbirders.

2. The Crossley ID Guide: Raptors - I enjoyed the photography in the eastern guide quite a bit and the teaser plates on http://www.crossleybooks.com/ are exciting. Should be an instant classic.
