I happened to get a chance to see Neal Stephenson speak about his new book, Reamde and get it signed. His books never disappoint so I'm looking forward to getting more time with it.

It helps me to keep reading if I'm not in the mood for Dune (which..."Dune took me about 8 years to get around to finishing. I could see why it was such a big deal at the time but I wasn't that big of a fan. I feel like it was worth it to read it in the end though.
Zecon wrote: "Reading Wise man's fear by Patrick Rothfuss. I enjoyed the first one, and this one is even better."I just devoured that book when it came out. Took me about a week but I finished it pretty quickly considering the size.
For me 100 books is too many. I just don't have enough time. I think I set my goal for the year at 24. That's only 2 a month. I think I'm fairly close to on schedule.
Bump! Where did everyone go? We had good steam up until October! Is everyone STILL hung over from Halloween? Or did you just roll it into Thanksgiving and Christmas?
I just happened to realize that tomorrow is the last of November. Fortunately, I finished this weeks ago. I enjoyed it quite a bit but for some weird reason, it took me a really long time to finish. What did everyone else think?
Ted wrote: "Tim wrote: "OK, one more question. Any DRM?"No DRM on any of the versions, free or paid. Not a DRM fan. If you visit the bit.ly link you can read about the Creative Commons license I'm using."
Good man! I'm sold! I'll pick it up when I get home and put it on my nook. Thanks for being awesome and supporting open formats!

OK, one more question. Any DRM? I'm assuming no due to a free version but I have to ask.

It's approaching the end of August. We've got another month to finish this up but I figured I'd get the topic rolling. Anyone else finish? What did you think?
August is almost here and most of us will start reading or have started reading The Windup Girl. I figured I'd get a bit of head start on October nominations so we can all add our requests to the library, Amazon, or whatever. I'll get the nominations started with China Miéville's Kraken. He's the author of the amazing Perdido Street Station and last year's Hugo Nominee, The City & The City. Both of which I've read and enjoyed thoroughly. Feel free to throw in your nominations and we'll see what comes up!

Eric(PathMaster) wrote: "Neat. While some dislike the Eragon series. I find them to be a great quick read, much like the Harry Potter series."Despite the fact that Eragon is not good literature, it's a fun, entertaining adventure. It's nothing new but damn is it a good time to read if you just want to shut off your brain and read something. It's the Hollywood summer movie of a book.
I saw this interesting Comic Con interview. Author Christopher Paolini (author of Eragon) interviews Patrick Rothfuss (author of The Name Of The Wind). Very interesting discussion on writing fantasy.http://sf-fantasy.suvudu.com/2010/07/...
