Just Finished Deadhouse Gates (Malazan #2). What a rush. With the coming October, I feel it is only fitting to dig into some horror books.
I tried to restart Dune again last summer. Made it about 15 pages in before quitting and going to the new Discworld book (it was new to me, at least).
I'm 24 books into my 100, only 6 behind. I had to stop reading for fun, though, due to me reading instead of working on essays. I did start Dresden 10 tonight, though, because I went to eat some pho for the first time in two weeks, and I can't eat pho without reading something. But soon.
I really liked Wise Man's Fear. Just all around entertaining, and made me want to drop whatever I was doing to get back to it.I can usually tell if I like a book if I want to read it before bed or not. With The Golden Compass, for instance, I would just go to sleep instead of reading :P
I'm back on Dresden for at least one book, then jumping back to Pullman to finish the rest of those off while its still fresh in my mind. After that, I might finally tackle some of those classics I've been saving up.
I've been flying through Dresden, and just finished book 6. So far, very enjoyable. I'm going to have to go over my lists and see what's next, though. Change up the pace a bit.
Yeah, we have a beach vacation coming up and I always talk my way out of driving, so I can read on the way up there AND on the way back. I'm not going to worry about my count until the end of June. If I'm not at 50 by then, I need to hustle.
I forgot about the Agatha Christie books. I'll add them to the list.Dragonlance Chronicles, eh? Added to the list.
I'm not really out to challenge myself with hard literature. I just want to read 100 books I've never read before (or don't remember reading).
Currently enjoying Dresden Files, though. I can probably finish a good amount of them in April.
I've added some classics that I haven't read in a while, like "Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde." and some H.G. Wells. I think I can pull this off.
So, I've just recently (this year) stumbled into the whole Goodreads thing, and decided to do a "100 books in 2011" challenge. However, I'm lagging behind my monthly goal. From the CoG boards, I've taken a few reading recommendations before, and am looking forward to the Dresden Files (along with anything else he's written, if I like him enough), The Malazan series, and so on.Yet, I'm still behind. I was planning on supplementing my reading with another read-through of every Discworld book I own (and every Star Wars book I owned (up until Vector Prime), but I don't want to cop-out and reread things I've already done before (though there will be a few). Here's where you can help.
As of today, I've finished 12 books. I'm partial to series (if I like something, I tend to treat it as one long book), but I'm open to anything. I will also read all of the books on the group's shelf, so no worries there.
So throw some suggestions my way. Is Shannara any good? Any fantasy that isn't as big as Wheel of Time, but you still enjoy? Any one-shots by favored authors?
While this does echo my post of me wanting fantasy series, I'm opening myself up to ANYTHING this time (save non-fiction).
This also serves a dual-purpose: This group is silent. TOO silent. I love the book thread on CoG, but I want some activity here, too!
