The Drowning of Stephan Jones by Bette Greene is a good book but not for a reader like me. I disliked the book because it was just telling the life of average people and doesnt really have any suspense. Unfortunately this book did not recieve any special awards. I would recommend this book to younger readers than me from ages 10-12. Publishers Weekly says, "All will be affected by the books dramatic and graphic portrayal of persecution. The final chapters, in particular, will force young adults to examine their values and rethink the meaning of democracy." The School Library Journal says, "A thouught-provoking novel... Greene has a polished writitng style; powerful scenes of dialogue.... Greene has adressed volatile issues." Bette Greene also makes the books Summer of My German Soldier, Philip Hall Likes Me, I Reckon Maybe, and Morning Is a Long Time Coming.
The book Ender's game is a very suspensful and will get you reading it until you are done with it. Ender's Game was also the winner of the Hugo and Nebula Awards. This book is meant for teenagers 13-15 because it has a lot of real life situations, even though this is 200 years from now. Ender started out as a bullied soldier and on page 126 it says, " I came back from breakfast and informed me that I was a toon leader." On page 155 it says, "I already knew I would be commander soon."so now he is a commander of his own army! This book is very similar to The book the Hunger Games but instead of killing each other they just use harmless lasers but use the same technique of training.
I am reading the book Eneders Game Because the book is awesome and I am awesome too so were a great match :)
