The courier lines were used to sneak information out of country and thence back to Britain. From what I've gathered Finland and Sweden were favourites. I think the availability of international flights was not so 'at hand' in those days and 'the boat' was probably seen as the more expedient. There must have been a reason to construct a courier line to Samara.
Thoughts everyone.

In Operation Mincemeat, the wallet litter was one of the highest priorities. They spent a good deal of effort on that.
