I mean you're not wrong, but I confess I was thinking along the lines of something to help take our minds OFF the impending doom

As we socially distance and in-person meetups are postponed, I propose we pick a few lightweight books and have a virtual book club here on goodreads. I'll release a poll sometime tonight; if you'd like to suggest something to go in the poll, please message me!

It seems like this book could share a surprisingly detailed writing prompt with Skyward.

"A teenager has grown up on a non-Earth planet, with starvation a constant threat. Their father was executed by an authoritarian regime when the hero was young; since then they've provided for their family by working a dangerous occupation underground. Now, they have a chance to attend an elite school and prove themselves, and maybe - JUST MAYBE - bring a measure of peace and justice to their clan."

This is my second reading, and the first was at least 20 years ago. I'd clearly forgotten a lot!
