Taya walked in, running a hand through her hair nervously. She still felt bad about abandoning the girls she'd met in the forest but she'd panicked and fire always screwed with her power. She didn't really have a choice. And at least she was in a town now, where she could sleep in a real bed for a couple weeks. She smiled at the thought. A clean slate. She walked up to the counter "A medium French vanilla latte, please"((Is there someone at the counter or should I just have her sit down with it?))
"C'mon guys, we've got to get out of here." Taya said. "If this spreads, we could have a forest fire. We need to go."
Taya nodded. "I think... I can work on that." She willed some of the shadows to wrap around the Hunter's head, effectively blinding him.
"I don't know if I can hide us," Taya warned, "Fire makes the shadows harder to control. I can dim the light it gives, though."
Slowly coming back to herself, Taya shuddered. She was essentially a human form wrapped in shadow. "Aria" she said, with difficulty. " we need... Get out. Help me... With Noel..."
Frightened, Taya instantly went into defense mode. She ran to a corner of the basement and completely concealed herself in shadow, effectively invisible. In another corner, a mass of shadow shifted and changed, making pictures fleetingly before twisting into something unrecognizable a moment later. Taya was operating on pure instinct, barely thinking at all. She'd only made the shadow shifter once before, it took a good deal of will power to keep it in a harmless form, waiting to see if she would have to unleash it.
"It's pretty dark down here. If worse comes to worst, I can easily hide us all in shadow. And I'll be able to make it darker. We should be fine"
"That's pretty cool too..." Taya said. "I don't have a lot of control over my powers... I mostly just use them to hide"
Taya's eyes went wide. "Mind-control? Oh, man. That's freaky. And awesome. Could you like, just tell a hunter that they don't see you?"
Taya laughed as well. "I can do that with shadows, but it wouldn't look as real" she said, impressed.
Taya raised an eyebrow. THAT was a new sort of power. New to her, anyway, she reflected. She avoided the topic with normal people when she'd go into town, and she didn't meet all that many outcasts in between. "Wow. Powerful." She stood up, pacing a little. "Well, the scream didn't hurt us" she shrugged. Her stomach growled a little. "You hungry? I'm gonna ask Noel if she has anything, otherwise you can have a little something. Okay?"
(I meant my own hair, lol. Sorry for the confusion)"Um, okay good." Taya said. "Can you talk? Or did the... Y'know..." She shifted a little, "scream... Hurt you throat?"
Once Taya had her boots on, she walked over to the couch. "Are you okay?" She asked again. "Do you remember what happened?" Taya crouched down a little to be level with the girl lying down, worry in her amber eyes. She ran a hand through her short black hair, remembering the blood, and adding, "You're safe now."
Taya was starting to get hungry... She heard a slight groan from the couch. She stopped playing with shadows and looked over. The new girl seemed to be stirring. "You okay?" She asked, putting her boots back on.
Taya lightened the shadows around her just a fraction of a second too late to catch Noel as she left. She crawled off the bed in the corner, and hesitantly walked toward the couch. Her face darkened and feet covered in shadow as usual when she was nervous. The screaming girl was fairly pretty, and not nearly as frightening as before. She wondered how long she'd be out for. Sighing she went back to the bed, sitting down, too restless to try to sleep again. She took her big black platform boots off and settled cross-legged on the bed, her back against the wall. She took a breath and began making shadow patterns in the air, something that always calmed and distracted her.
"I've never seen this before, but... If you say so." All her instincts told her to get far away, but there was still some light shining through the leaves. She'd need to drop her shadow-guard to travel, and she really didn't want to do that just now. "Thanks again for letting me stay, Noel." She said, walking toward the house.
Taya was intensely disturbed. She could take care of herself just fine, but other people? She was totally lost. She wrapped her shadows thicker around her. "So... We just... Leave her there?" Her ears were still ringing from the scream.
