The Mulberry Public Library is now a FINE FREE library! What does that mean for you? Read through our frequently asked questions to learn more. If you have additional questions, do not hesitate to contact us.Fine-Free Policy FAQ’s:
What is fine-free?
-The Mulberry Public Library will no longer collect overdue fines for Mulberry owned items that are returned after the due date.
Why is the library going fine-free?
-We want to take down any barriers that are preventing our patrons from using the resources we have available in the library or digitally.
Will there still be due dates?
-Yes, we will have due dates to ensure everyone has access to our physical items.
What happens if I don’t return by the due date?
-An item will be considered late/lost if it is 30 days past the last renewal date. Items are renewed automatically up to two times (6 weeks maximum time for checkout) if there are no holds on the item.
-Final late notices, then lost item notices will be mailed to patrons as a reminder.
-After an item is considered lost, it is moved to the lost report. The cost of the item will be charged to your account. If the item is more than $10 then your account will be suspended/blocked until the item is returned.
-When the item is returned, the cost of the lost item is removed and your card is unsuspended/unblocked.
What if I have outstanding fines on my account?
-The computer should remove the fines, but it is not a perfect system. Call, or visit us and we will remove any overdue fines that are associated with a Mulberry owned item. Mulberry owned items begin with 30393 on the barcode.
What about other fines or fees?
-$5 for hotspot checkout still applies.
-If an item is damaged, then there is a fee for the damage.
-Lost items will be charged a replacement cost depending on the item.

“Sometimes you read a book so special that you want to carry it around with you for months after you’ve finished just to stay near it.” ― Markus Zusak, author of The Book Thief
From the desk of Miss Bethany,If you are an avid reader like me, you understand the satisfying feeling that comes with a successful book or author recommendation. I love saying the words, “Try this one” and waiting for you to return with your personal take on the book.
Last year I suggested a favorite title to Miss Sarah and when she finished it, the look on her face said it all. She got it. She immediately understood why this book sits confidently on my personal list of favorite reads.
Two weeks ago we learned the author had released a new title AND that she had previously written several Young Adult novels. We immediately requested books for ourselves and told Miss Crystal she needed to check out this author too!
Who is this mysterious writer? The one and only Megan Miranda!
When we realized we were all reading her books and trying to guess the various endings at the same time, we snapped a photo to celebrate! We posted the photo on our Mulberry Library Instagram (@mulberry_library_rocks) and...
MEGAN MIRANDA WROTE US BACK!
To say we were excited is an understatement!
If you are looking for a new author, we highly recommend Megan Miranda. Fast-paced, mystery, thriller, friendships, family drama, the occasional romantic relationship and a hearty dose of “What is happening right now?”!
Our favorites (so far!):
All the Missing Girls The title we all started with. A 380+ page roller-coaster ride!
The Girl from Widow Hills NEW TITLE ALERT! This book was published in June 2020!
The Safest Lies A Young Adult novel that my teenage son enjoyed with me!
Fragments of the Lost Another Young Adult novel but trust me, it is fun for adults too!
This year the national library theme for summer is Imagine Your Story! Spark your imagination during our Happily Ever After Summer Reading Program! This program is available to our Polk County Florida library patrons! Use the links below and sign up today!Remember, you must be a Polk County Florida Library Card holder to earn prizes. This is an ALL AGES program so do not miss out on the fun!

Good morning! Many of us have had spare time recently and find ourselves reading more than usual. That got us thinking about which authors we have enjoyed spending our days with. Today, we would like to recommend Harlan Coben to you! Coben's books are fast-paced, action packed, AND entertaining. Best of all, he writes for adults AND teens! With over 30 books in print, there are a LOT of titles to choose from!
To add to the entertainment, some of his books have also been brought to the screen. Most recently you can find The Stranger on Netflix (one that we look forward to watching soon!).
Check out your digital resources and streaming services to get a dose of Harlan Coben this week. We have a feeling you will NOT be disappointed!
Our staff is excited to announce that our Little Library That Could read 92,216 pages this year! How many pages did you finish in 2019? We would love to know what was your top book for 2019 is too!
If you are looking for a recommendation, we really loved 'The Tattooist of Aushwitz by Heather Morris. Happy New Year and Happy Reading from the Mulberry Public Library!
