Cole I have always wanted to read these!

Starfiresky Cole wrote: "I have always wanted to read these!"

Haha-- then why haven't you? :)

message 3: by Cole (new)

Cole Well I have read the Owl Mage and Collegium chronicles. Taking it one series at a time. Which one was your favorite?

message 4: by Starfiresky (new)

Starfiresky It's been a while since I've read the series, but I really liked Brightly Burning, though it was the Mage Winds that got me hooked. :)

message 5: by Cole (new)

Cole Have you read the ones I mentioned?

message 6: by Starfiresky (new)

Starfiresky For the most part. I've read the first two of the Collegium chronicles, but I haven't gotten ahold of the third yet. They're really good. :)

message 7: by Starfiresky (new)

Starfiresky Have you read the third one yet?

message 8: by Cole (new)

Cole They are! Yes, I have read the third one. Still just as good as the others!

message 9: by Cole (new)

Cole I say that you have read a lot of manga. I am into that kind of thing too, but I don't avidly read them. I mostly watch anime. Anyway what are some of your favorites?

message 10: by Cole (new)

Cole I also checked the compare book things. We have books in common there too and I would love to discuss them with you. Saw as well a lot of to reads of yours that I have read before, let me know if you are stuck picking between one of them.

message 11: by Starfiresky (new)

Starfiresky Awesome. I can't wait to read it. :)
The manga I would most recommend is Fullmetal Alchemist. The original anime for it was pretty good (I don't know if you've seen it or not), but they changed it a lot, and they took out a lot of pretty awesome characters. Though I haven't seen the Brotherhood anime, and I've heard that that one follows the manga much better.
And yeah, that sounds like a plan. I would like that as well. :)

message 12: by Cole (new)

Cole Actually that is one of my favorites! Fullmetal Alchemist was touching and deep and kick ass.

message 13: by Starfiresky (new)

Starfiresky Oh, awesome! It's one of my favorites too. :)
What about Deathnote?

message 14: by Cole (new)

Cole Yes!!!

message 15: by Cole (new)

Cole Deathnote is another one of my favorites! Have you seen Wolf's Rain, Ouran High School Host Club, or that new one; Guilty Crown?

message 16: by Starfiresky (new)

Starfiresky I saw the first few episodes of Wolf's Rain, but all I could see were those first few--I had a hard time getting ahold of the rest. I've read a few volumes into Host Club and then lost track of it for a while, and then when I came back to reread it I got frustrated with how many times it close-ups the guys. X)
I have not read Guilty Crown-- what's it about? :)

message 17: by Cole (new)

Cole Close-ups?
Well anyway, I loved both! You didn't like Ouran, huh? Oh, well; but were you interested in Wolf's rain at all, at least the ones that you could read?
Let's see, Guilty Crown, here is a synobsis...
(After the outbreak of the unidentified virus "Lost Christmas" in 2029, Japan has been under the control of a multi-nation organization called GHQ. Ohma Shu is a 17 year old boy who has a psychic power in his right hand. He can use the power "Ability of King" to extract tools or weapons from his friends. He has been avoiding making trouble for others but his life changes when he meets a girl Yuzuriha Inori, a member of a resistance guerrilla group called "Undertaker", whose members pilot mecha weapons to fight against the government.)
Well I think that is a poor description, it has so much more soul than that. I know it sounds like a whole lot of other manga out there but honestly, i have never seen one like this. Very deep. Let me know if you look it up.
Have you heard of Chrono Crusade, Ao No Exorcist, Spice and Wolf, or Fate Stay Night?

message 18: by Starfiresky (new)

Starfiresky Wolf's Rain was interesting as far as I got. It's been awhile, so I'd probably have to start over if I was able to get more of it, but I remember liking it. :)
Sounds interesting. Is it out in hardcopy, or is it online? Because I'm not getting results on goodreads.
I am rereading Chrono Crusade because I read up to volume six, and then I lost track of the series and I'm rereading it right now, because I can get all eight of them now. I have not heard of the second or the fourth, and I read volume one of Spice and Wolf.
Have you read Fruits Basket?

message 19: by Cole (new)

Cole Ya I have, you know I should probably put all the manga I have read on my booklist as well. I just have never thought to put it on until I saw yours.
Anyway Fruits Basket was good, not a favorite of mine though. I think it was a little too bright for me if you know what I mean.
Have fun with Chrono Crusade, I did!
Wolf's Rain ending was so sad, if you ever get the chance to read it let me know; I cried.
I loved Spice and Wolf though, the banter between those two is just priceless!
Ao No Exorcist is really good here is a synospe:
(Humans live in the world of Assiah, demons in Gehenna. The two dimensions are not meant to interfere with each other, but demons still possess creatures in Assiah in spite of this. The humans who can fight these demons are known as exorcists. Rin Okumura is a boy who bears the curse of being Satan's illegitimate son. His foster father sacrificed himself to save him from demons. To avenge his foster father's death as well as to prove himself, Rin decides to follow the path of an exorcist.)
Fate Stay Night is made from a video game, here is it's synospe:
(Shirou Emiya lost his parents in a fire when he was young and was later adopted by a sorceror by the name of Kiritsugu Emiya. Although he was full of admiration for his adopted father and yearns to become an ally of justice, Shirou has limited powers and was unable to become a strong sorceror like his father. That is until one fateful day, he was drawn into the Holy Grail War and had to summon a female "Servant" known as Saber in order to protect himself. It turns out that the Holy Grail War involves a series of battles among powerful sorcerors to fight for the possession of a relic that will grant one's wishes, the Holy Grail. There are altogether seven "Masters" who can summon their respective "Servants" from different classes known as Saber, Archer, Rider, Berserker, Lancer, Caster and Assasin. These "Servants" have to hide their names in order not to reveal their weaknesses to the enemies. The story revolves around Shirou and his entanglement in the Holy Grail War.)
Any of those sound interesting?
Also do you ever watch the anime? I try to read and watch them.
Have you heard of Claymore or Heroic Age?

message 20: by Cole (new)

Cole Also, is it cool if I friend request you? So far I like your tastes and I think we have things in common. Plus, I could always use more friends!

message 21: by Starfiresky (new)

Starfiresky Those do sound interesting. I'll have to look them up. :)
And yeah, I try to watch the anime that goes with manga, but I'm pretty limited to what I can borrow on DVD.
I have read Claymore--I'm only just finished volume eleven, but I really like the series so far. And so far I'm liking the anime too, though I'm at the manga equivalent to volume seven/eight on it (and I love the beginning and ending theme to it so far). :)
I'm not familiar with Heroic Age, however. What's that one about?

message 22: by Cole (new)

Cole Man, I am just introducing you to too much, huh? ;)
Is there any that you think I should check out or that you liked a lot?
Here is Heroic Age:
(Answering the call of the "Gold Race", all the sentient races launch into space. The human race is the last to launch, and are thus known as the "Iron Race". Much time has passed since then, and humanity is threatened with extinction at the hands of the more dominant "Silver Race". In order to save her people, Princess Deianeira sets out on a journey to a galaxy far away, following the prophecies of the Gold Race handed down by the royal family. Then, she meets a boy named Age. Their encounter will change the fate of the universe...)
This anime/manga is okay.
If you could name your top 10 what would they be?
Also, thanks for the friend request!!! I am excited now to have some one new to talk too. Oh, and if you haven't noticed I like to get excited about books and anime. So don't freak out, okay?
Claymore is great, huh? Very dark.
And if I haven't got the thing for you... go on these sites to watch anime for free! http://www.anime44.com/ and http://www.animefreak.tv/. This is where I read and watch most of mine, check it out if you can and tell me what you think!
Oh, and I don't know if you are one of those people that hate the main stream anime but... do you watch Bleach or Naruto or Fairy Tail or One Piece?

message 23: by Cole (new)

Cole You know it is funny, but I just noticed how we really got side tracked from the original books we were talking about. Hahaha!

message 24: by Starfiresky (new)

Starfiresky We have gotten kinda sidetracked...but it's okay. The most fun conversations never stay on topic anyway, right? X)
Haha-- and there is nothing wrong with getting excited about books and anime/manga (though I may be biased, because I get that way too...). So no freaking out here. :D
Umm... I will make the attempt, but I'm not going to worry about order because it would be too hard for me. And this is pretty much the way I'm floating right now. XP
Fullmetal Alchemist
Deathnote
Claymore
From Far Away
D.N.Angel
After School Nightmare
Good Witch of the West
Fruits Basket
Skip Beat
W Juliet
I am watching Bleach, but I've only gotten as far as finishing season one, and I have read volumes of One Piece and Naruto, but I haven't gotten very far yet. I have not read Fairy Tail as of yet. :)

message 25: by Cole (new)

Cole Never heard of From Far Away, After School Nightmare, Good Witch of the West, Skip Beat, or W Juliet. If you could tell me anything about them that would be cool. And don't worry about putting them in any order, I can't do that either!
Umm... so did you check out those sites, i would really help you a lot!
Let's see... Well I follow Bleach and Naruto, surprisingly both are great. Want to get into Fairy Tail, but never liked One Piece so...
Glad you are like me in the excited about these kind of things aspect.
I am assuming you would also like to know my top ten so here it is not in order (haha)
Deathnote, Ouran High School Host Club, Fullmetal Alchemist, Claymore, Wolf's Rain, Guilty Crown, The Blue Exorcist, Black Cat, Pandora Hearts, Fate Stay Night, Kiba, Romeo x Juliet, Soul Eater, Spice and Wolf, Shuffle, Chrono Crusade, Fruits Basket, Rave Master, Samurai X, Loveless, Heroic Age, Freezing, Elfen Lied, and . Hack.
Okay maybe that is more than 10... Um a lot more... Sorry. Well that is just a large group of my very favorites so... tell me if you have see any of these.

message 26: by Starfiresky (new)

Starfiresky Umm... From Far Away is about a girl that gets thrown into a weird fantasy world and is found by this guy named Izark, who came to find her because she is prophesied to be the one who will awaken the Sky Demon. After School Nightmare is about a person who is a guy from the waist up and a girl from the waist down, and he (he lives as a guy) gets put into a class where once a week the students go into a dream, wearing their true forms, and when they graduate from this class by finding a key, they are forgotten by the students. It's kind of an emotionally intense book, but I've been enjoying it.
Good Witch of the West starts as a sort of Cinderella story, and it's based off of a book series (that I want to read but haven't gotten ahold of, unfortunately)--the country girl goes to a ball in celebration of the star queen, and it is discovered that she is an heir to the throne, all while her friend, Rune, is getting pulled into his past of being an assassin and rogue. I know I didn't do that justice, but it's a pretty awesome series. :)
Skip Beat starts off with a girl who lives with and practically plays maid for a guy she's grown up with, and he's become a huge pop star. She's absolutely in love with him, but when she finds out that he doesn't have a very high opinion of her and has basically been using her all that time, she decides that she's going to go into show business and basically get revenge by becoming more popular than him. For me, manga has a hard time making me laugh aloud-- if it happens once or twice in a series, I'm impressed--but Skip Beat makes me laugh in almost every volume, and I love the characters. The first one didn't do that so much, but the farther you get into the series, the better it gets. :)
W Juliet is an odd manga-- the premise is a little weird to explain. Ito, the president of the school's drama club, is a girl, and everybody mistakes her for a guy because she's a total tomboy. She makes friends with this total babe of a girl, a new student with a great acting talent, and they pretty much become best friends, but she finds out that Makoto is a guy being forced to dress as a girl by his father to prove that he has enough acting talent to pursue that instead of inheriting the family dojo as his father wants him to. Nobody was supposed to find out, so he and Ito have to keep it a secret that he's a guy all through high school until he graduates. It's a weird manga, but I enjoy it a lot. X)
I've read some of Black Cat, but it's been a while, I am currently reading Pandora Hearts (I've read up to volume four), I read volume one of Soul Eater but I wasn't overfond of it, I've read Loveless but it's been a while, I have songs from the .Hack soundtrack on my computer, but I only read up to volume two or so in the manga, I have heard of Rave Master and Romeo x Juliet, and Goodreads has recommended Blue Exorcist to me. Other than that and the manga we've already discussed, I haven't heard of the rest. But I'll have to look into them. :)

message 27: by Cole (new)

Cole After School Nightmare, W Juliet, and Skip Beats sounds really good. I will be looking them up presently!
And don't worry, I seem to only get part way through anime/manga and never finish it. :(
And cool, let me know what you think of the ones you look up!

message 28: by Starfiresky (new)

Starfiresky Sounds good. :)

message 29: by Cole (new)

Cole I look them up! I really want to read After School Nightmare, I noticed there is no anime for it though. oh well, do you think they could make a good anime version?

message 30: by Starfiresky (new)

Starfiresky I dunno-- it's possible, as long as they didn't deviate too much from what happens in the manga. But if there was an anime I would want to try and watch it. :)

message 31: by Cole (new)

Cole Me too!
