"Definitely not Elizabethan...this is one of those dresses that seems to belong to no particular era. Vaguely 18th century (looking at the sleeves) but is that a SEAM down the middle of the bodice? "

"This novel is set after the Chicago Fire, i.e. in the 1870s, and the dress looks more like an 1850s or 1860s dress. I have issues with this cover design in general--looks like nothing at all in thumbnail, and in print the figure of the woman looks a bit blurry and not at all part of the backdrop, which is overlaid in a sort of glittery effect. I can see what the designer was going for, but it didn't work for me. Still want to read the book, though."

Misfit I think we can.

Misfit I had to unlike and like the list again. It is so much fun.

Jane Isn't it though? I hope historical fiction doesn't overly embrace the fashion for graphic covers.

Misfit Covers are fun. I still love the vintage ones best.
