"My first big thick book I read. My teacher told me it would be too hard for me, I was nine at the time. So I stole (I like to think 'rescued') the book from school and savoured it's delicious story. I still have it :')"

Half Magic (Tales of Magic, #1)

"One night I had terrible ezcema, and the cream the doctor gave me was burning my legs. I was only eight or nine, and I was in agony. I stayed up all night with this book and others in the series, it took my mind off the pain and I will be forever grateful to Mr. Eager for that :)

"I remember getting up really early to get this book. Mammy went to Smiths and got it and I curled up on the armchair in the living room and devoured the book. I finished it in one day. I was sad it was over. It became my favourite Harry Potter."

"We used to scare ourselves silly with these in primary school. We used to make a beeline for them in the library and watch them on tv. We used to play games to scare ourselves, and we half believed our own imaginations."

The Silver Sword
by
"I loved this. I used to read it at school and I felt all safe and comfortable when I was reading it. I used to make a nest/house for my pens and pencils out of my school jumper and play games when I was bored or finished my work. Once I got told off for reading instead of doing my work. It makes me rage blind to think of it now. She embarrassed me in front of everyone, just because I was too advanced for the work we were getting. Most of my early education came from books like this, and I am indebted to the authors."

"I loved these, I used to scour charity shops for them. I always thought Peter was a bit sexist because the boys got to have all the fun, but I also secretly fancied him a little. I used to imagine I was in the secret seven and it led to many passwords being invented to get into my backyard :')"

Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl, #1)
by
"I judged this book by its cover for years. When I finally read it I was happy to admit I was wrong, that it was brilliant. I used to play with marbles, pretending they were jewels I could trade for faery knowledge while I read it. Started a long love affair with faery stories. Also, Mulch is so funny."
