Little House on the Prairie (Little House, #3)
by
"*THE* quintessential American series that started it all for me when it came to reading. I fell into these books and didn't come up for air until I was done with them all. Each one is written so that the entire American west comes to life for the young reader. Garth Williams' illustrations on the perfect complement. Simple. Good. Pure. I'm sure life was harder than Ingalls Wilder portrayed, but these are books written for children. It lets a child look at a blade of grass on the prairie and see it for the first time."

The Outsiders

"Everyone is an outsider in some way. Whether you are the kid that never fit in, from the wrong side of the tracks, or born with everything at your fingertips, you know what it's like to be outside looking in. This book captures that angst. It's great for the teen years."
