"My parents always tried to keep the Scary Stories books out of my hands. The illustrations can be pretty disturbing. Downright grotesque, even. I don't think the stories ever really bothered me though. Some of them even have a nice element of humor. I'd say The Hearse Song is probably my favorite, but The Vinder Viper definitely takes a close second."
