As a 46 year old who grew up during the 70's and 80's and who loves sports and music, this book struck a chord with me. I could really relate to the main character and the angst he felt while trying out for his high school baseball team. I genuinely enjoyed the musical references which brought me back to a more innocent, but often difficult, time. The writing is excellent and the climax of the story extremely powerful. It is a story that sticks with you long after reading the book. I found many parallels between "Coat" and the best seller "The Art of Fielding," but I actually enjoyed "Let Me Wear Your Coat" more!
