"This book illuminates the characteristics of an emergent organizations, as opposed to a top down structure. It is a very important and increasing useful idea in our society. Something like Wikipedia is emergent, in that the site was designed to grow on its own with non-leadership being a key strategy. Organizations which reply on top down personalities can die off when the talented head is lost, the spider. No so with the self organizing entity or starfish."
