The Color Purple

"had to read this after i saw the movie because the movie although good never is as good as the written verse of any tale. There was more depth and understanding of each character that the film could not duplicate. "

The Well of Loneliness
by
"My first reading of a tale with a lesbian in it. It's like a primer for women of my era the late 60's early 70's just emerging from high school with all kinds of conflicting feelings and finding myself not fitting in to societies norms. This tale resonated in my soul.

"Drawn by the title i was pulled into the story. Dorthy is an easy read that made me think she had me reflecting and rethinking sevral times as i read the book I really bonded with her feelings what she wrote at times felt like i was putting on a favorite pair of jeans. Comfortable and familiar and favored."

"I was assigned this book in College at Grand Valley State in MI. I was quite taken back at the exprssive midwestern view and feelings expressed so eloquently that i read other works by this author not assigned and enjoyed them all."
