Les I know there have to be others. I wish there was a way you could quickly search all your books to find the ones you only gave one star to. That would help protect others from bad literature. Ethan Frome stands out as the worst I've read, but part of that is due to the miserable 10th grade English teacher I had (who was later fired for drinking at school). Boring book + lousy teacher = visceral hatred

So glad I never had to attempt Ethan Frome. I hated Heart of Darkness for similar reasons. My husband is very thankful that he never had to read that one about the boys on the island who were so cruel to each other. I can't think of it at the moment. I think in high school they liked to torture us at times!!
