Colonial Constitutionalism: The Tyranny of United States' Offshore Territorial Policy and Relations
by
"I was gifted this book by a student of the author's when I was living in Guam. Now as a HI resident, I am anxious to understand the disparity between US gov't and "locals" in areas where there is a "local" population that is not Mainland American. Spending quite a bit of time attached to the military and transplanted abroad, it seems to be an issue. Despite the title, this book is simply a question that shines light onto the oxymoronism of "America". I'm not quite finished but I don't think the rest of the book will stray from what I've read so far. It poses huge questions about the American view of race and equality and whether they applies offshore. There is no right or wrong answer but as Americans are seeking a return to isolationism, the facets presented should be examined. Also good to just gain a better sense of "why there is animosity towards the US in the territories and why, as a servicemember, you might find yourself in the middle of that animosity."
