I forgot that "by eastern windows " is new. Its set way back but was only written a few years ago...
Perhaps I'll make an exception in the description. It doesn't say you can't add over 1960, just preferably not contemporary. I'll see what I can configure. ;)
Since you've got The Count of Monte Cristo, would you consider The Scarlet Pimpernel or Scaramouche in there as well? Excellent swashbucklers with romance of both kinds- meaning, both: people falling in love and the older meaning of deep emotional expression in general. Also Ivanhoe, although it has such dense sentences, but well worth the effort of wading through.
I have a teen girl who loves swashbucklers with a hint of romance, trying to meet her reading needs. Glad I found this list.
Hi Lora, thanks for asking. I've been trying to figure out were to "draw the line" and I think as long as its clean, has some form of swashbuckling, (sword play, adventure on the high seas, spies, pirates, buccaneers, smugglers or outlaws) it goes. Ivanhoe is one I hadn't thought of, but I don't see why it shouldn't be on the list. BTW, if you look on the main page: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/7... you'll see that The Scarlet Pimpernel and Scaramouch are already added. As well as a few others by those authors.
I'll edit the title of the list to make it clearer. Instead of Forgotten Swashbucklers of Long Ago I'll change it to Forgotten Swashbucklers. That way people wont scratch their heads wondering if their book is "Old Enough". :)
