"The best book about the experiences of a young girl in the south and her relationship and hardships that occurred with a beautiful characterization of the people who not only helped her but written with fantastic description. Wonderful presentation of how much people can make such a difference. Life told with such beauty and emotion without overly dramatic. A perfect story of coming of age at a certain era and geographical place. Leaves me with much to think about. Style of writing just flows and it's hard to put down. Movie did not do it justice despite some fantastic acting."
