"The author, Clayton Rawson, has probably never been heard of today. He died in about 1971. He was a magician, writer and editor. He wrote several short stories about The Great Merlini, which I discovered in the early 1950s. I read a few of them then and have now discovered this book including all of his short stories. He was also the editor of the Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, among others. I am currently reading those I had not read rereading his stories I had read."
