I'm having an issue with authors voting up one another's books without actually having read them. This totally defeats the purpose of the list. As part of the plan to try and fix that I'm asking everyone to have only votes for books they have rated on GR. I'm assuming you've read The Tree of Mindala. :D Could you please either rate it or delete your vote?

Thanks!

Michelle, as the author of The Tree of Mindala, you can rest assured that I have read it (several times in fact). I did not rate it because I believe an author's rating of their own book serves no purpose. Voting for it for a list, however, helps others to categorize it and determine if it's something they would be interested in.

It's cool either way at this point. The lists have become a huge headache for me to manage and I regret creating them. I've reached out to GR to see if they can be deleted. If not, I'll be re-titling them all something like "Random Assortment of Things" leaving them to de-evolve into something completely meaningless.

Elle Jacklee I can totally see that it would be a lot to manage. Perhaps you should enlist some help or at least take a poll to gauge the degree to which these lists help readers make their reading choices, which I thought was one of the reason for the existence of Goodreads? It would be a shame, in my humble opinion, to remove a mechanism that readers find value in. (I would help if I could, but I've learned (the hard way ;) not to take on commitments I cannot possibly fit into my schedule.) I hope you can find a way to keep these lists, but if not, thanks, Michelle, for all your efforts so far!

I appreciate your sentiments, but I'm just not interested in doing this any longer. I simply prefer to spend my leisure time doing something pleasant for myself.
