"Excellent book about the love affair and subsequent marriage of John of Gaunt, son of England's Edward III, and Katherine DeRoet. Anya Seton makes you feel like you are actually living in the mid 1300's with her detailed descriptions of life at that time. Katherine's journey, from orphan raised in a convent to wife of a knife to mistress of the greatest man in England, is one that will have you turing the page quickly. After I read the book I researched Katherine and devoured eveything I could read about her. She was a fascinating woman who went through heartbreak, terror during the London riots, and ultimately resignation when she lost the love of her life. Wonderful book...just wonderful."

"The best historical fiction I have ever read. Loosely based on the King Arthur legend it is the story of a British knight at the time the Romans are pulling out of Great Britain. There is no Merlin. Gwenhamara is not a beautiful queen who enchants everyone - she is an average looking woman who captures Arthur's heart after he is coerced into marrying her. Likewise, there is no Lancelot - just Bdwyre, who stands by his friend and commander through everything. "
