Not three, Riku, but five: Austen, Brontë, du Maurier, Lee and Richardson (whose real name was Ethel Florence Lindesay Richardson). At the time I voted I didn't realise my vote was split down the middle in terms of gender. I suspect that if I voted for another ten books, even more of them would be written by women.

I didn't notice Lee and didnt know Richardson. Sorry. But that is just great - a perfectly balanced list!
