Ender’s Game (Ender's Saga, #1)
by
"I read this soon after it's release. WHAT A BOOK! This was my introduction to philosophy and sociology. Orson really explores the extremes a society can reach AND the nature and right and wrong. (Bean is explored later and his story brings even more to the world)"

Watership Down (Watership Down, #1)

"A society forced to find a new home. The extremes they go through. The struggles to reach a place of safety. All told through the POV of Rabbits? YES! This was a pivotal book for me as a youngster. :)"

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3)
by
"The BEST of the middle books (next to Half Blood Prince) this book explores Harry in a fuller format. What is HE missing? Where is it all going? And, even better, we get some back story on James and Lilly. (Explored further in Half Blood Prince)"

The Thorn Birds
by
"An excellent family saga explored through a heroine who realizes early on she's chosen the wrong person to love. Unlike Scarlet from GTWT she holds true to her toxic love and still tries to find a life."

"Scarlet isn't the most sympathetic heroine, but she does show that, even while being selfish, we can rise and triumph."

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)
by
"What a grand exploration of a society that exemplified the worst of the Roman conquest. Bread and circuses anyone? Lets feed the lions! Also, even better, it shows that you cannot keep a slave society going, eventually the slaves (even armed with nothing but staves and scythes) WILL rise up against the injustice.
