Between the World and Me
by
"This is the book I have been waiting for all my adult life. Ta-Nehisi Coates has engaged me and filled me with wonder and delight. It is very short and very directed toward the subject of "people who have to believe they are white." After I read all the comments about racism, his take on what racism may be or may mean is enlightening. This guys is the bomb. How is it not on the list already?"

How I Shed My Skin: Unlearning the Racist Lessons of a Southern Childhood
by
"I have only read reviews of this book, but it sounds to me like it belongs here from the reviews. I have read some of his other gritty books that are novels about growing up poor (and white) in the South, and they show depth of understanding as well as great writing. I am looking forward to this one whenever the library gets it."
