"Roy Cade, the unlikely hero of Galveston and Rust Cohle, the character played by Matthew McConnaughey in "True Detective" share far more than initials or a tendency to cut little tin men out of beer cans. "Galveston" was on my favorites' list way before Pizzolatto wrote this HBO series. He remains one of the best contemporary authors I've read.
