"This book is awesome! But, half of it(literally half) is in the endnotes. That ends up being ingenious and such an artistic way to deliver a powerful message, but it is a lot of work flipping between chapters and endnotes. Also, there is intellectual work involved in jumping between the narrator and his friend, the mind of Charles Dickens, mythologies, astronomy, and a history of almost everything. Its scope rivals Joseph Campbell, but at its center is a fun, tragic, happy, heart-wrenching, and hilarious, amazing story.

"This book is about computers and code breaking, WWII, modern politics, genocide, and Judaism a little bit. It has characters composing Haikus in the battle field and people hacking computers and forming their own currency, and trying to defend the world from genocide. It is long, but compelling. It is educational, but interesting. I learned a lot from this book and had a good time while doing so.
