I KNOW. I can't handle it. There are books I can't ever re-read because of this (just gave away several, actually).

I've not seen a cat version, but I did see this list that is generally about animals dying, so maybe some stuff to steer clear of unless one is prepared for it (spoilery I suppose): https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/6...
