Fahrenheit 451
by
"Of the few books I read on assignment in school, this one was interesting. I always like reading about "the future" when it's meant to be the time we live in. This story also reminds me why books are important for culture & history. Maybe I'll read it again."

American Gods (American Gods, #1)
by
"I love Neil Gaiman and this is a fun story. You'll likely recognize some of the God's listed, but maybe not others. It fits into my favorite class of stories, a modern world with a magical edge."

Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything
by
"I love everything freakonomics. I hated the study of economics in school, but they present a new outlook on the field and apply it to some really interesting topics. "

The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide: Five Complete Novels and One Story (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, #1-5)
by
"I can't honestly say I've read it, I found that a bit difficult...but there was an BBC Radio Play that was essentially the audiobook version of the story and I really enjoyed it. It's such a silly story but Douglas Adams sucks you in with interesting characters and zany situations."

"I fell in love with Terry Pratchett's writing over the discworld. So I jumped into Good Omens and was not disappointed. "

The Giver (The Giver, #1)
by
"I liked the book better than the movie that came out in 2014. I recommend it because I think it has a good lesson on why it's important to remember our histories and where we come from. If at the end of the story you really want to know more about what happens next go on with the rest of the series, but I didn't care for them as much. Each book has a different story feel to it and this is my favorite of the lot."

Dune (Dune #1)
by
"My first introduction to any sort of epic story read. At the very least, if you pay attention to anything scifi and haven't read this, do yourself a favor and read at least the first. You might find yourself experiencing all kinds of pop culture reference light bulbs going off at the very least."

The Hobbit, or There and Back Again
by
"Another of the few I actually read in school on assignment. Most of us have seen the movie by now and you get a sense of the adventure, but it can be so much more with the book in hand."

The Lord of the Rings
by
"This one took me a whole summer to read, but I wanted to get that in before the first movie came out and I'm glad I did. I liked the movie series a lot, but there are definitely bits I missed from the books. I might put this one on the read again shelf. Great story, give it a go."
