The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1)
by
"The use of the frame narrative technique to tell the story of Note/Kvothe through flashback is fairly unique to Fantasy as far as I have found. I also found other aspects of the novel compelling original such as the characters, settings and the idea of sympathy (magic)."

American Gods: Tenth Anniversary (American Gods, #1)
by
"Best first half of a fantasy novel I've ever really read - and though I wasn't super thrilled about the second half of the book (from a narrative perspective), you can't deny Gaiman's unique voice and the skill with which he paints this beautiful visual world."
