"I voted for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone because this book made me love reading. I'm not sure I can eloquently express exactly how much this book, and also movie series meant to me. When I was young, I had memory retention problems and reading was a struggle for me. Math I did fine. Science and Social Studies? Fine. English (language arts is what we refereed to it as in Elementary school)? Terrible. School was difficult, I never read books. I was physically active and joined a lot of sports teams to avoid doing my required reading because I was so bad at it.

When I was 8, the movie came out and I was in love. I remember seeing the movie and crying at the end because I thought that was it. I looked to my then 13 year old sister and desperately said, "Please tell me there will be more!" She laughed and said, "Anna, that was the first book. There's going to be 7 total."

I was sold. I focused more in school and got placed in a program to help with my memory retention issue. "
