Cordelia's Honor (Vorkosigan Omnibus, #1)
by
"This book was my gateway into sci-fi. The entire Miles Vorkosigan series is worth re-reading many times. Starting with an author that has won every genre award multiple times did make me a picky reader when it comes to my sci-fi romance. Read the whole series. It might not be traditional romance, but all the relationships in this series are amazing."

Space Marines: The Sectors #1-3
by
"This will give you the first 3 books in Scott's varied sci-fi series. It has many books and novellas. It ranges in settings and themes, which keeps it interesting. Some are planet-based, some are space ship based. Wreck of the Nebula Dream is probably my favorite of the three here, but all are really good. "

The Central Galactic Concordance Collection (#1-3)
by
"I love Van Natta Central Galactic world. The characters are very varied, and so are the romantic relationships. Every book is different. And the overall story arc makes you wish she wrote a lot faster:) Give the first book, 'Overload Flux' and try, and I guarantee you will plow through the whole series. It has 4 books, and serveral novellas. Book 5 comes out soon."

Forgotten Ages - The Complete Series
by
"I loved the characters in this series. So even though it falls somewhere between sci-fi and fantasy, I put it on the list. Thank goodness for e-publishing or books like these that don't neatly fit in one sub-genre won't get published."

Valor's Choice (Confederation, #1)
by
"The romance part of this series is more minor, and slow to build. But I still felt that it was an essential part of the series arc. "

Tinker (Elfhome, #1)
by
"This book falls somewhere between sci-fi and fantasy, with enough romance to just make it onto the list. (That she is one of my favorite authors probably helped). But the main character is a genius scientist, so she has to be here:) There are several in the series, and lots of short stories. I recommend them all."

Gabriel's Ghost (Dock Five Universe, #1)
by
"This series is older, but she was one of the first romance authors that didn't dumb down the world building. She paved the way for true sci-fi romance. If you like this one, read the whole series."

"Two romantic novellas that set up a space-faring human world. The two novels that followed I would recommend as well. "
