The C++ Programming Language
by
"A longtime member of computer science cannon Stroustrup does a good job of presenting the language and the rational of it's design. This will make you a much better programmer with just a casual flip though and will make you the envy of your peers with some dedicated study."

Code: The Hidden Language of Computer Hardware and Software
by
"Of all the books that could possibly used to teach an introduction to computer science I can think of no better book to model a curriculum around than this one. It weaves several different compelling stories into a great novel. I especially like the context it gives us as programmers."
