"Richard Lucas is a great historian who shows historical truth. During World War II,
The loss of 6,000,000 Polish citizens. Poland's losses include; 200,000 soldiers, 39% of doctors, 33% of lower-level teachers, 30% of academics and university lecturers (700 professors) 26% of lawyers, 28% of priests. 3,141,000 people were deported for forced labor. After the war, there were 600,000 invalids left 1,200,000 tuberculosis patients, 3,600,000 widows and orphans. The Germans kidnapped 200,000 Polish children and deported 700,000 to Germany for forced labor. They robbed about 516,000 individual works of art worth an estimated $11 billion and $140 million. ECONOMY - Railways destroyed 84% of assets: 2,500 locomotives, 6,300 passenger cars, 84,000 freight wagons, 80% railway bridges 7,000 km of tracks (Distance Warsaw- New York) Industry - 70% of assets destroyed: 20,000 factories, 160,000 workshops and manufactures, 64 naval vessels. Forestry - 30% of the stands were wiped out: 200,000 hectares of forest were completely destroyed, 500,000 hectares were severely devastated and 22,000,000 cubic meters of trees were exported to the Reich. Agriculture - 22% of assets destroyed: 500 000 agricultural holdings. There was no family in Poland who would not lose some or all of their life. The total value of Polish material losses inflicted just by the Germans after conversion into today's value amounts to approximately 850 billion US dollars.
Poland suffered the greatest biological and material losses during World War II. After World War II, which was triggered by Germany as a result of the provisions of the Tehran Conference, the Yalta Conference and the Potsdam Conference held without representatives of the Polish Government, we lost 175,000 sq km in the East Lands. In the west and north, however, we have recovered 100,000 km2 of lands. That's about 75,000 km2 Polish territory was reduced and we got for 44 years under the influence of the USSR, which caused the back warding, economic, industrial and technological Poland.
In the 1920s and 1930s, Poland achieved economic indicators comparable to Spain. "If Poles had billed us for destroyed cities, ruined factories, looted works of art, or civilization instability as a consequence of war, we would be debtors indefinitely"
- Günter Grass."

The Christian Self-Formatio...

it was amazing 5.00 avg rating — 2 ratings
"I added this book because is well received. While this is a scholarly work it is very readable to an ordinary person like me. Chris highlights the process of self-formation and human "becoming" and how important it is that we "become" the best person we can be. He notes that spirituality is a key component of becoming and that it infuses our becoming with attributes given by God like love, kindness, generosity and selflessness. Chris wrote this book before our country entered the current complexities of our society. I found it compelling that this book can be applied to current daily living. This book helps us understand where we came from and where we should be heading especially concerning responsible actions and behaviors.
I commend his excellent work. It is a great thing to read during quarantine. His well written work not only touches the people of St. Pius. It also touches people of the whole world.
