City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)
by
"Now this is a piece of work. It's such a relief from the typical YA stuff, I've made it one of my favs. Great quotes that make you laugh, lots of twists to make it refreshingly unpredictable, and though there's romance, it's not the focus of the story - which strays from the normal supernatural beings to supernatural-hunters."

DragonQuest (DragonKeeper Chronicles, #2)
by
"I loved this sequeal to DragonSpell because I felt the focus shift from personal development to social development really well. Bardon and Toopka were great new characters, though I have to admit, I missed some of the ones from book one."

Unlike the other novels on my list, this one is in the "

Crown Duel (Crown & Court, #1-2)
by
"Don't ask me why I like this one..I just do. My copy is the combo, with both Crown Duel and Court Duel stories (though Crown Duel is still what its called). I love how the heroine is not just feisty, but in a way flawed because of it...what is a strength is weakness, and the whole course of both stories was frought with dangers but still left for some personal growth."
