Oh! they made you read The Iliad and the Odyssey? that is tough. I have never heard of A Ring of Endless Light but bet I would like it based on the writer. I had low grade fever and swollen painful knees last night when we went to see Harry Potter but managed to enjoy it anyway!

:) There was another jr high book I wanted to put on the list... about some homeless kids who were living in a mall, I think... just can't remember the name. It totally fascinated me. Homer was slow-going, but not so bad when you discuss it in class little by little. I finally got into it and started loving it. I don't think I'd enjoy it on my own without the discussions.

I remember Mom owning some copies of books by Homer but I could never get into them. Class discussion could have made all the difference.
Homeless kids living in a mall sounds vaguely familiar.

Was it the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler? They run away from home and live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Thanks! Maybe that was it, and I'm confusing the stories. I did find that book on Goodreads recently and put it on my list... I do remember getting really involved with that one, too. I guess I forgot to vote for it on this list. I feel like there was a separate book that took place in a mall, but I might be wrong about that.
