The Liars' Club

"It would have been a depressing tear jerker of a story about growing up in Texas amid alcoholicism and poverty...if it weren't so damn well written. It is hilarious, poetic, honest, straight and just beautiful. Mary Karr comes across as a non-apologetically imperfect person. As are we all. It's just that most of us are not as eloquent."

Dorothy Parker: What Fresh ...

"Dorothy Parker was the best three letter word anyone could be. Whether in the twenties or the naughties, male or female. A wit. Terribly troubled ofcourse, but so funny. Marion Meade truly did her justice"
