This is our first Book of the Month poll at GoodReads! The two books with the highest amount of votes will move on to the run-off poll in 5 days, on the 25th.

There's a slight difference with Yahoo: GR doesn't allow you to set up a poll in which people can vote for multiple options. At Yahoo, we would allow people to vote for as many books as they wanted in the first round of polls and then only for one book in the run-off poll. Here at GoodReads, you'll only be able to vote for one book in both rounds.

Feel free to campaign for your nomination! :)

Ron I read DeeDee's comment on "The Steel Remains" in the list of nominees, but that thread is now closed, so I'll answer it here. "The Steel Remains" gets my vote; I like his prose and his plots, I quite like his violence which I think is always in service to his themes, not gratuitous.
Also: if you are a "squeamish" reader, I suggest you not choose Moorcock's "Gloriana" which is also fairly violent, in the martial and sexual senses of the term.

Good point, Ron. One advantage of GoodReads, also, is that people can now easily click on the titles in the poll and read some initial reviews to check whether they'd be interested in the book.

Personally, I'm voting for Majestrum A Tale Of Henghis Hapthorn (which I nominated) but I'd definitely read The Steel Remains if it wins. Maybe I can even entice the author to join us again --- I think he enjoyed the discussion when he joined our Yahoo group, and he was definitely one of the most active and outspoken authors we ever had in the group.
