I try to read one book a week. This year, I've tackled Lonesome Dove and The Crimson Petal and The White, which are both 800-900 pages, so they've taken me 3-4 weeks to finish.

I try to read two books a month but sometimes more depending on time and other things happening in my life!
Last year I read 76 books (my goal was 75). In the new year I'm going to challenge myself to just read 50, since I found it really hard to read the last few books.
I had no idea how many books I read in a year. But I just looked at my shelf and I've already read 22 this year!I thought it would have been a lot less! Go me!
i keep a log AND i use goodreadslast yr i read 156, but before that it was 70's.
i think it just goes to show i dont clean! hahah
Many of the books I read are read anonymously as a judge in various contests, and I'm sworn never to reveal which books I judged, which is why there may be a perceived discrepancy between what is on my public shelf and my answer on this poll.Best wishes

in 2007, I read less than 30 books. I had a lot going on that year and I put many of the things I enjoy to the side. I've learned not to do that anymore. In 2008 I'm set to read about 80 I think.
I try to read a book a week. I usually start a book on Sunday, try to finish by Friday night or early Saturday and then read one over the weekend. Of course, life gets in the way and it doesn't always work out.My 2008 goal was to not worry about my book-a-week rule and try some classics. Started with Anna Karenina which really slowed me down. It was a painful read but I learned a very valuable lesson: Classics aren't always good and my life will be just fine if I don't read them all!
I've enjoyed some of the challenges more like the A-Z author read. I had great fun with that and will try it again next year.
Not only do I read more than 50 books a year, I read 3-4 books at the same time (which drives my husband crazy). But I keep them all straight.
I do most of my reading in bed, but I am also an new author,so to give my mind a break I now read when I can, I would say I read about 70 books a year. I love reading.
I am one of those scary people who sometimes reads an entire book in a day. I speed read without trying and understand and remember for long periods of time (wish I could slow down). If I am not working, in my tai chi class then I am probably reading! That and my Mom thinks I have something for the new male & single librarian at the new library named Dylan!! She thinks that is why I spend soooo much time at the library after work on the way home everyday (or at lunch)! So this week I am working on my 5th book. But if I work on some books like Shakespeare or Trollope its one in a week. I probably average about 130 books a years give or take a few.
I'm a hopeless book worm-- have been ever since I was 10... When my kids were younger I was lucky to get in 1-2 books a month, but now that they're older, I've turned off the TV and returned to my bookish ways... Some weeks I average 3-4 books, when work is really crazy I usually only read 2... over the course of the year I probably hit 75 or more...
